Fabio Sánchez, Juan Gabriel Calvo, and Luis Barboza, members of the EpiMEC team, participated as Guest Editors of this Special Issue.
The main edition topic was the use of mathematical modeling to understand different epidemiological and social issues that constitute a challenge for the health and well-being of societies. The contributors were international experts, as well as local researchers from Universidad de Costa Rica, where the focus was primarily on the models regarding the UCREA mathematical modeling project.
